Self-host vs Cloud
Same CMS. Who runs it is up to you.
EdgeCMS Cloud is not a fork. It runs the public framework, so you can move between the two.
| Self-host | EdgeCMS Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Code | EdgeCMS framework, MIT | The same framework, run by us |
| Cloudflare account | Yours | Not needed |
| Setup | Deploy button or the deployment runbook | We set up your workspace (private beta) |
| Upgrades and migrations | You run them | We run them |
| Backups | You configure D1 backups | Daily backups and restore drills before paid launch |
| Cost | Cloudflare usage, billed to you | Free plan; paid plans after the beta |
| Custom code | Any trusted plugin you build | Plugins from our reviewed catalog |
| After you leave | Your data stays in your account | Kept 1 month after closure, then deleted (draft terms) |
Self-host when
you already run Cloudflare, need full control of your account and data location, or want to extend the core with your own plugins.
Quickstart →Use Cloud when
you want a workspace without owning infrastructure, and would rather we handle upgrades, migrations and backups.
